 erre Hill is the smallest of small towns. At one mile long and one-and-a-half
miles wide, it is set amid the rolling farms of the Amish and old-order Mennonites.
Located between Shady Maple (a
wonderful grocery store and bountiful smorgasbord) and Shupps Grove (an antique/flea
market), our town boasts activities all year round. We are also about 8
minutes from Maple Grove
Raceway and know the back roads to get you past all the lines!
Here the church bells still chime, buggies clip-clop down Main Street and lunches are
served every Friday in the park in the summer. There’s an Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween
parade, Memorial Day service and Santa’s Workshop. An annual Terre Hill Days
celebration takes place every July along with town-wide yard sales. This year we

Amish and Mennonite one-room schoolhouses, covered bridges, farm stands and local
churches are a common site. Thre are many excellent local nurseries selling every kind of
flower, Amish and Mennonite furniture craftsman and bakeries. Blessed with community
spirit and a population of about 1,200 people, Terre Hill has won the distinction of being
the safest town in the United States.
There is some great bicycling around Terre Hill on roads with little traffic and gently
rolling hills. The Covered Bridge Metric Century Ride, listed among the best in the region
by Bicycling Magazine, goes right past The Artist's Inn. In 2007, it drew a record 3,305
riders. We have both bicycle maps and the Lancaster Bicycle Club book of rides for Lancaster County available
for bicyclists.
If you are looking to attend one of the many auctions in our area, Weaverland Produce
Auction starts at 9:00 a.m. most days (except Sunday). It is one mile from the inn
and boasts the best produce and flowers from our local farmers. Prices are wholesale
and anyone can bid. Horst Auction
Center in Ephrata has sales on Wednesday and Saturday with some very nice
antiques. And Farmersville has regular auctions on Tuesdays, including the big New
Years weekend two-day event. You'll find the auction house on the corner of
Farmersville and Farmersville roads. That would be in, you guessed it, Farmersville!
A.C. Diffenbach Auctions, located
in New Holland hold quilt and craft auctions on the third Tuesday of every other month.
