LOCALS AND TOURISTS CELEBRATE LANCASTERS RICH CHOCOLATE HISTORY
Look out Hershey: Lancaster is all Abuzz with its Many Chocolate and Candy Makers
Making Smooth Confections.
February is the month of romance and chocolate and locals and tourists alike are
looking for sweet interludes in Lancaster County. On February 25 and 26, 2011, restaurants,
candy makers and chocolatiers are joining forces with two area bed and breakfasts to bring
together the many facets of chocolate and candy making.
Local innkeepers say that couples have been looking for an opportunity to learn the
rich history of Lancaster chocolate and how its romance has survived neighboring one of
the worlds largest candy makers.
While consumers demand fresh, quality ingredients, these innkeepers have put together a
tour to show their guests the sweeter side of Lancaster.
With Wilburs and other local candy makers, the possibilities and varieties
are endless. Using methods long forgotten, such as hand dipping and the lack of
preservatives, the candies are pure indulgence.
Guests will also enjoy learning about another Pennsylvania chocolatier
The weekend will start with a getting to know Chocolate evening and Saturday will start with a great chocolate-inspired
breakfast, tours of local confectioners, a chance to explore romantic Lancaster County by
backroads, and a chocolate themed dinner with round out the day. What could be more
